Rationalism in today's world

   Ever since human beings have existed in this world, they have put considerable effort to find truth and answers to every mystery. Many civilizations created an almighty controller in their minds to answer their unsolved mysteries for e.g. in Hindu mythology, it was Indra who caused rainfall and in Greek mythology there were different gods and goddess for different nature activities. Later, science proved it otherwise and explained the entire entire process of rainfall which happened through evaporation and condensation.
   After the rise of Islam in the Arabic world and Christianity in Europe, Crusades and war started between Muslims and Christians because of which many new ideas were exchanged between different civilizations out of which one was being was being practical and rational by applying the cause an effect theory.
   It was maybe due to this reason that Renaissance and cultural revolutions and reformations started in Europe and then Industrial Revolution which also encouraged imperialism and colonialism side by side. So this is when we can discuss rationalism in today's world.
   In today's world, majority of the people do believe rational answers for acts of nature but many still believe in the existence of the almighty. There are very few atheists in this world as before. Rationalists and skeptics target and criticize only religion and not other areas where people don't use their rationality. For e.g. purchasing items from a departmental store without verification, choosing to study in a coaching center and paying thousands and lakhs of rupees without checking that is the service provided even worth that amount or not is also an irrational act. However, no rationalist association ever protested against these irrational acts.
   We can expect maximum benefit of the society only when people who call themselves rationalists target every subject of irrationality happening in this world. Only then we can wish for a developed society.
